Serve Case Participants

This information applies to courts that use party management. For details on serving case contacts, see Serve Case Contacts.

If you want to serve your filing documents to parties involved in your case, you must select the Serve Document checkbox on the Bundle Assembly page.

If this option is selected, the Select Recipients pane will display after you've uploaded your filing documents. Depending on court rules, all recipients may be auto-selected.

Select Recipients section

The court determines which case participants are listed and can be selected for service. As a result, not all participants may be shown. The court may further determine if auto-selected recipients can be de-selected.

  1. Ensure the appropriate recipients are selected for service. Note that a court may not allow recipients to be de-selected.

To serve the filing documents to someone other than a court approved case party or case attorney, you can send a courtesy copy of the filing documents to an ad hoc recipient.

e-Serve is the only method of service available. However, if a recipient's email address is unknown or invalid, they are listed in gray text and cannot be selected to be e-Served. You may need to serve the filing documents through other means such as mail or in person. In such an instance, you are responsible for arranging service of the filing documents outside of TrueFiling. TrueFiling will not perform the service.

You can preview the Proof of Service before you submit your filing bundle to the court.

If no service recipients are available or selected, an error dialog is displayed when you attempt to submit your filing bundle. In addition, the court may dictate that at least one recipient other than the filer or submitter be selected. If this condition is not met, an error dialog is displayed when you try to submit. See Filing and Bundle Validation for more information on validation.

Once your filing documents are uploaded, and the service recipients are selected, you can either save your filing bundle to access later or submit your bundle to the court.
