Serve Case Contacts

This information applies to courts that use case contacts. For details on serving participants in courts that use party management, see Serve Case Participants.

If you want to serve your filing documents to parties involved in your case, you must select the Serve Document checkbox on the Bundle Assembly page.

If this option is selected, the Select Service Recipients pane will display after you've uploaded your filing documents.

Existing case contacts and the selected filer are listed. If the selected filer is not already a case contact for the case, they will be automatically added as one once the filing bundle is submitted.

If the case contacts fail to load, this dialog is displayed.

Click Close. The page will reload, and the case contacts will populate the Select Service Recipients section.

The court dictates which service methods are allowed. If allowed by the court, you can choose a different type; however, some courts may allow only e-Service.

Be aware - if you select Mail Service or Personal Service, you are responsible for serving the document outside of TrueFiling. TrueFiling will not perform the service.

  1. Select the checkbox beside the recipients to be served. Select All to select all recipients listed.

If no service recipients are selected, an error dialog is displayed when you attempt to submit your filing bundle. In addition, the court may dictate that at least one recipient other than the filer or submitter be selected. If this condition is not met, an error dialog is displayed when you try to submit. See Filing and Bundle Validation for more information on validation.

You can add an ad hoc recipient for this filing bundle submission only. This option may not be enabled for all courts. If it’s not enabled, the Add Recipient button won’t be visible.

You can also add yourself / a connection or add other counsel (if enabled by the court) as a recipient.

You can preview the Proof of Service before you submit your filing bundle to the court if you wish.

Once your filing documents are uploaded, and the service recipients are selected, you can either save your filing bundle to access later or submit your bundle to the court.
