File to an Existing Case

If a case is accessible through TrueFiling, you can file to it.

• You can file on your own behalf (if you've associated a TrueFiling user role with your login credentials) or on behalf of another TrueFiling user you're connected to.
• You can upload multiple case filings and submit them together to the court for review. All filings submitted together must be for the same case.
• You can choose to file, serve, or file and serve the filings. If you choose to serve, you'll need to select the service recipients and specify how they are to be served.
• If the court requires a Proof of Service, and you e-Serve, TrueFiling will automatically generate and deliver a Proof of Service to the court. The court may be configured to generate a single Proof of Service for filings submitted together.
• You may need to perform some preliminary actions before you file, such as searching for the case and accessing the Case Details page to specify a case contactcase contact or a case party or counselcase party or counsel.

   

  A court can be configured to use case contacts. A case contact is someone that is associated with a case and can be selected for servicing. This person can be you, a connection, or a member of other counsel.

   

   

  In courts configured to use case participants, the court must approve participants before they can be added to a case. A participant can be a: 

  • Party (e.g. Defendant, Plaintiff)

  • Attorneys, including LGAL (legal guardian ad litum) and court appointed

  • Other participant such as a judge or the media

   

You can file multiple filings to a single court in a batch using the Bulk Filing feature. See Bulk Filing for details.

If no preliminary actions are needed, select File in the navigation pane to launch the Bundle Assembly page where you'll begin the filing process.

Be aware:  If a case has been deleted from TrueFiling, it cannot be located or accessed through the search functionality, and you cannot file against it.
