In TrueFiling, a filer is not always an individual such as an attorney or pro se filer. Representatives from government agencies – such as Health and Human Services – must also file, often in various courts across a court system.
Court groups are used to collectively organize courts so filers can file to a group, instead of selecting individual courts. For example, a court group could be created to organize courts based on their geographic location in a state.
An organization is not aligned with an individual court but is instead aligned with a court group. If properly configured, an organization can be selected as the filer for a filing bundle on the Bundle Assembly page. Further, the organization can be identified as a government agency and can be configured as exempt from filing fees.
An organization is comprised of individual TrueFiling users, which are added by the Organization Administrator (OA). The Organization Administrator will determine if the user can file on behalf of the organization within any court that is part of the court group associated with the organization.
The Organization Administrator will also determine if the user can:
View the entire filing history of the organization
View only the filing history of organization cases to which the user has been assigned by the Organization Administrator
Not view any of the organization's filing history
An organization user will receive a notification email if the Organization Administrator removes them from the organization.
