To file on behalf of an organization, you must be:
A member of the organization. Contact the Organization Administrator (OA) to be added to the organization. Note that the organization must be configured so that it can be a filer.
Granted permission by the Organization Administrator to file on the organization's behalf.
If the above conditions are met, your organization(s) will be listed in the Filer field drop-down on the Bundle Assembly page. If you select the organization as the Filer, you will be recognized as the submitter filing on behalf of the organization.
The process used to submit a filing bundle on behalf of an organization is the same process an individual filer will use. See File to an Existing Case.
However, one difference exists.
Specifically, the Organization Administrator MAY configure the organization as a government agency AND exempt that agency from filing fees. If the organization is so configured, when an organization user submits a filing bundle on behalf of the organization, a fee waiver of type “I am an agent of a government entity and the case is exempt from an Electronic Filing System (EFS) fee” (used here as an example) is auto-created and submitted with the filing bundle.
The Checkout dialog will indicate that fees have been conditionally waived, and the appropriate Exempt from Fee option is auto-selected on the Fee Waiver dialog.
See Request a Fee Waiver for details on fee waivers.
Also, a fee waiver filing type is added to the filing bundle. Once the bundle is submitted, the fee waiver is listed on the History page under My Organization’s History. Click here to learn how the Organization Administrator will configure your access to your organization's history.
