If the court permits, one or more filing documents can be "connected" to another filing document. A connected filing document functions as a "child" of the "parent" (lead) filing document that will be filed with the court. The filing documents are connected, yet still separate. Each filing document is individually reviewed by the court, and each can be accepted or rejected.
Note that only one level of connection is allowed; that is, parent >> child.
You'll upload a file and then connect it to the lead filing document.
Depending on the court and case type, the Filing Type of the connected filing document may default to CONNECTED FILING. If it does not, select the connected document's filing type.
See Separate Connected Filing Documents to learn how to separate a connected filing document from the lead filing document.
See Confidential and Sealed Attributes in Connected Filing Documents for details about attributes and connected filing documents.
